The air was filled with anticipation as a crowd of train enthusiasts and well-wishers gathered to witness the Mason's Trains historic Last Spike Ceremony.

Participating in the memorable event was the honourable Clint Hames, Mayor of Chilliwack.

With flashbulbs popping and cameras clicking, the onlookers held their breath while our two special guests solidly drove the last rail spikes into the ground.

A distant whistle, gradually growing louder, was the only warning as Mason's Trains powerful 4-6-4 Hudson suddenly appeared from around the bend and burst through the decorative ribbons that had been strung across the track.

Loaded with gleeful passengers, the Hudson sped past the onlookers streaming freshly cut ribbons and billowing clouds of white steam. Soon all that could be heard was a distant clickety-clack as the train disappeared over the horizon, leaving the crowd dazzled and yearning a train ride of their own.

Without further delay, everyone was offered a complimentary train ride on Mason's Trains incredible live steam 4-6-4 Hudson. Children and adults alike were thrilled as the locomotive ran by quaint village houses, gorgeous landscaping, and a picturesque pond.

To enhance the festive atmosphere, Mason's Trains and the Chilliwack Live Steamers provided beverages and Irene Fisher supplied delicious cakes, cookies, date squares, and chocolate!

The resounding success of this event would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the members of the Chilliwack Live Steamers and their friends & family.

Now that the track is officially opened for business, we urge you to bring your family and friends for awesome train rides, and for those of you with your own locomotives, we gladly welcome the opportunity to host your prized engines.
